Another project Whitehead Performance is working on right now. RB26DETT engine from the orange 1972 Datsun 240Z featured on the website is out of the car and we’re building a stronger bottom end. First piece of the puzzle is a brand new OEM RB26DETT N1 engine block:
Fresh out of the crate from Japan: new RB26DETT N1 block.
Check out the stock crank main cap girdle. There’s a lot of strength in the RB26DETT design – enough to support 1000+ HP.
The N1 block is a thicker casting than the regular RB26 block and has improved oil and coolant passages for better oiling and cooling, especially at high rpms (10,000+ rpm)
24U is the easiest way to identiy an N1 block. Regular RB26DETT blocks are 05U.
Next time Whitehead Performance assembles the rotating assembly with some interesting parts.
